KOMPAAN BREWERY

Usually you would associate a tasting with wine but here at Kompaan Beer you get to do it with kraft beer. You get a selection of six different IPAs to try and of course you can order very good snacks on the side. Maybe not the healthiest snacks but sometimes enjoying some loaded nachos is right what you need. The place is right by the water in the industrial area of The Hague. If you are looking for a good afternoon activity, this is your place to be!

A DAY ON TEXEL AND MARKEN

Lunch at De Stal, Den Burg, Texel
Marken Harbor

I haven’t done all too much exploring of the Netherlands until last week when we went to Texel and Marken. Marken was my favorite and I was surprised to visit this very cute little town that I had never heard of before. The town also makes its own beer, which I very much enjoyed. Texel, on the other hand, is a classic Dutch island with beaches, light towers and more small red brick villages. It was great for a day trip! The island is really not that big, but can be still very fun to drive around and look at the nature. If you like watching birds, then this is your place.

WINE DATE

There’s no better way to celebrate the cafes and restaurants opening again than by going on a wine date. Luckily, my lovely friend Noor is as much of a wine date lover as me so despite our hurting bank accounts, we decided to go out for a fun afternoon. The place we went to is called Boozy Wine & Food. They have really nice snacks and wine selections, so I would highly recommend going here if you are in The Hague!

FINALLY GRADUATED

George Marina Restaurant in Amsterdam
Drinks at Bleyenberg Rooftop
Coffee at Single Estate

Three years later (of which half I basically did not go to uni) I have finally completed my bachelor. To be honest I have no idea where time went and I still feel 18 years old. Before everyone heads out of The Hague to move onto their next stage in life we’ve been keeping busy, going to the beach, getting coffee & drinks and trying to catch up on all the things we haven’t been able to do for the past year. I am currently on the job/internship search, so I am just trying to enjoy my last summer start as a student for a little longer. Soon enough I’ll have to become a real working adult haha

VALENCIA

Paella at El Ross
Brunch at Brunch Corner La Virgen
Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias
Lookout point Benidorm

I very much enjoyed our weekend trip to Valencia and the quick stopover in Benidorm to check out the view. Valencia is a super pretty city, with a bunch of cafes, bars and places to explore. We definitely had some good meals there haha (food is always very important). I loved that the city has the beach that you can go watch the sunset at, but it does not necessarily feel like a beach town. You can also go to the park and just lay in the sun and read. I definitely think I will have to go back and stay there for a bit longer to really get to know everything.

FIRST TRIP 2021

Hello Spain. Finally a year and a half later I am sitting in a plane again, off to a place I have never been before. I can tell you I was very excited, like a child flying for the first time lol. I had two goals for this trip, that were to not come back no longer looking like a ghost and learn Spanish. I only managed to achieve one of that and I think you can guess which one. At times the Spanish weather did bless us with quite some cold and rainy days, but I still managed to get my tan. The three weeks I was gone were a lovely break from reality, although I did have to work on my thesis. But the view of a palm trees and blue skies makes that a lot better.

FEELS LIKE SUMMER

Two weeks ago everything was frozen ands no covered the grounds of the Netherlands. This past week we however have welcomed warm temperatures and sunshine, it has been so great. It somewhat even felt like summer haha…the ice cold rose in the evening or just hanging out at the beach. Even all the brunch dates! Eventhough corona is quite frustrating, I feel like we’re finding ways to get through it and still enjoy things in life (like food). The sun really makes all the difference and makes my busy thesis writing semester a bit better. I mean how can you complain if its possible to write your thesis with your face in the sun or toes in the sand while listening to the ocean. Perks of living somewhat close to the beach haha

SUN AND SNOW

Yes there can be a lot of snow in the Netherlands. We were all really surprised, especially since the temperature also got really really low. But I must say the week the snow lasted, I really enjoyed myself. The “grachten” froze and everyone was walking around on the dutch frozen water (most people were ice skating actually). The snow really gave The Hague a winter feeling, which was super enjoyable. Unfortunately, I was not able to go skiing this year but luckily there was some snow here to replace the cold winter feeling haha.
